Why go

Aqua Planet Ilsan is a large public aquarium in Goyang's Ilsan district, one of five Aqua Planet aquariums operated by the Hanwha Hotels & Resorts group across South Korea. The Ilsan branch is the northern-Gyeonggi flagship of the Aqua Planet network, positioned inside the Ilsan Kintex (Korea International Exhibition Center) complex for easy access on a broader Ilsan family day out. The aquarium's exhibits span roughly 25 themed zones covering major freshwater and saltwater ecosystems — Amazon river fish, Korean coastal marine life, tropical reef systems, penguins (both Gentoo and King), fur seals, sharks, and a walk-through tunnel with rays and larger fish overhead. Scheduled feeding times and diver shows through the day give the visit a rhythm beyond static viewing. Age-appropriate for families with kids aged 3-12 in particular. Admission is typically KRW 27,000-35,000 for adults depending on the season, and reservations are strongly recommended on weekends. Allow about 2 hours for a focused visit. Access: 10-minute walk from Kintex Station (Line 3, Exit 6). Pair with the surrounding Ilsan Lake Park (Korea's largest artificial urban lake park, walking loop of about 4.7 km), or the One Mount Snow Park in winter for a full Ilsan family day.
