Why go
Korea Bamboo Museum is a public institutional museum in Damyang, Jeollanam-do, dedicated to bamboo as a Korean cultural-and-craft material. Damyang has long been Korea's most-cited bamboo-cultivation region, with the area's distinctive bamboo forests and bamboo-craft traditions giving the museum direct context. The museum walks visitors through the history of bamboo cultivation in Korea, the technical-and-craft aspects of bamboo work (basketry, furniture, musical instruments, paper, food applications), the cultural-and-symbolic role of bamboo in Korean tradition, and contemporary bamboo-craft adaptations. Period craft pieces, contemporary works, and an outdoor bamboo-cultivation display anchor the museum. Pairs naturally with Damyang's Juknokwon bamboo forest and broader Damyang itineraries.
