Manripo Tourist Site is a major coastal-tourism destination on the western coast of Chungcheongnam-do, set on Manripo Beach — a famously long beach (the name "Manripo" literally means "ten-thousand-li shore," emphasizing its great length). The beach combines a long stretch of fine pale sand, the surrounding coastal landscape including pine-covered ridges and rocky coves, casual seafood restaurants serving West Sea catch, minbak and small-hotel accommodations, and seasonal beach events including the famous Manripo Sand Sculpture Festival. The Manripo area has been one of Korea's earliest established West Sea beach destinations and remains a major regional beach-tourism cluster.
