Why go

Samrye Cultural Arts Village is a public cultural-arts complex in Wanju, Jeollabuk-do, set inside the historic refit Samrye train depot and warehouse buildings that have been preserved as a designated cultural heritage and converted into a multi-use cultural village. The complex includes art galleries, working artist studios, a small theater space, café-and-restaurant facilities, and craft-and-design retail, all integrated into the preserved early-20th-century industrial-railway architecture that gives the village its distinctive identity. Programming includes rotating contemporary-art exhibitions, cultural events, and craft workshops. The combination of preserved industrial-railway heritage and contemporary cultural-arts programming has made Samrye Cultural Arts Village one of Korea's most-cited adaptive-reuse cultural destinations. Pairs with Wanju Traditional Culture Experience Center.
