Why go

Baksugijeong Cliffs, located on Jeju Island's western coast near Daepo Village, form one of the island's most dramatic coastal panoramas. The sheer basalt columns rise steeply from the sea, a product of Jeju's volcanic geology, and stretch for several hundred metres along the shoreline. Visitors reach the clifftop via a manageable walking trail that rewards with unobstructed views across the open ocean. The site is especially striking at sunset, when the dark rock face catches warm light. A freshwater spring traditionally associated with the cliffs gives the site its name — "baksuri" referring to a gourd used to draw water.
