Why go
Bangjangsan National Recreational Forest blankets the western flank of Mount Bangjang in northern Jeollanam-do, offering one of the quieter forest-bathing experiences among Korea's national recreational forests. Tall pine and oak make the canopy dense even at midday, and the marked trails range from easy thirty-minute walks to a full ridge ascent of about four hours. Cabin-style and apartment-style overnight units are available for booking through the Korea Forest Service portal, which makes it easy to plan a full overnight nature stay. Spring wildflowers and autumn maple are the standout seasons. Pair with the nearby Jangseong Reservoir for a slower two-day combination.
