Why go

Bugak Skyway Palgakjeong Pavilion crowns the Bugaksan ridge that runs above central Seoul, reached by a winding mountain road built in the 1960s as the city's first scenic drive. The two-tier wooden octagonal pavilion sits at the highest viewpoint, with a 360-degree panorama across Gyeongbokgung, Namsan, and the Hangang on a clear day. A small cafe and a Korean-style cafeteria let visitors linger. The Skyway is also famous for its cherry blossoms in early April, when the entire road becomes a tunnel of pink. Best at sunset; weekday traffic is light. Pair with the Buam-dong cafes on the descent for an unhurried half-day in northern Seoul.
