Why go

Busan Cinema Center is the institutional home of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) — one of Asia's major international film festivals held annually in October — set on Centum City in eastern Busan. The complex is one of Korea's most architecturally distinctive contemporary buildings, designed by Austrian architecture firm Coop Himmelb(l)au and featuring a massive cantilevered roof structure (one of the world's largest free-spanning roofs at the time of its 2011 opening) that hovers dramatically over the central plaza. The complex includes multiple theater spaces (the main BIFF theater, indoor cinemas, an outdoor cinema), exhibition galleries, a film-archive library, and supporting BIFF infrastructure. Programming runs year-round with film screenings, festivals, and cultural events. Best paired with the broader Busan Cine Road, Marine City, and the BIFF festival window in October.
