Busan Marine Natural History Museum

Busan Marine Natural History Museum in Busan's Dongnae-gu is a public natural history museum specializing in marine biology and East Sea/South Sea marine ecology, with a substantial collection of preserved fish, mollusks, coral, marine mammals, and Korea's most-cited whale-skeleton exhibits including a full-scale minke whale skeleton and a partially reconstructed sperm whale. The museum was among the first Korean regional natural-history museums to combine marine and terrestrial biology exhibits in a single dedicated venue. Permanent exhibits combine themed halls on Korean marine ecology, mineral and fossil collections from the Korean peninsula, taxidermy displays of Korean terrestrial fauna, and interactive touch-panel content aimed at family visitors. Free entry (a small charge for the special-exhibition areas). Bilingual Korean/English interpretation. Allow about 90 minutes. Access: 5-minute walk from Oncheonjang Station (Line 1, Exit 3). Pair with Beomeosa Temple (Busan's most-cited working Buddhist temple, 15 minutes east by taxi), Dongnae Hot Springs (historic Joseon-era oncheon district, 5 minutes on foot), or Geumjeongsan National Park for a Busan cultural-and-nature day.
