Why go

Daegaya Museum in Goryeong is the dedicated public museum on the Daegaya kingdom — the largest of the Gaya polities (with its capital at Goryeong), which existed alongside the Three Kingdoms in the southeastern Korean peninsula from the 5th through 6th century before being absorbed by Silla in 562. The museum holds the most comprehensive Korean public collection on Daegaya material — gold ornaments, distinctive pottery, iron weapons, and trade goods documenting Daegaya's substantial seaborne and overland trade with Japan, the broader Three Kingdoms, and Tang China. The museum sits adjacent to the Jisan-dong royal tomb complex (with about 700 mounds, including the largest Gaya royal tomb yet excavated). Free entry. About 2 hours. Pair with the Jisan-dong tomb complex.
