Why go

Eunsusa Temple is a small Goryeo-era hermitage on the lower slopes of Maisan in Jinan, Jeollabuk-do, just below the famous twin "horse-ear" peaks. The temple was a frequent rest stop for hermit-monk Yi Gap-yong as he built his 80-plus stacked stone pagodas at Tapsa Temple over 30 years in the late 19th century, and Eunsusa preserves several of his personal effects and a small museum on his life. The compound itself is modest — a main hall, a stone pagoda, and a stream-side garden — but the connection to the Tapsa story and the dramatic Maisan backdrop give it a strong sense of place. Allow forty-five minutes. Pair naturally with Tapsa Temple at the saddle.
