Why go
Geumma Reservoir is a constructed irrigation reservoir in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do, built in 1962 to support the surrounding agricultural plain. Today the reservoir doubles as a quiet recreation site with a 6-kilometer perimeter walking trail, several fishing piers used by local anglers, and a small lakeside cafe. The setting is unpretentious — pine windbreak forest, low rolling farmland, the reservoir surface still as a mirror most mornings — and the trail rarely sees tourists, making it a useful slow stop on an Iksan day. Best in early autumn morning when the surface fog lifts off the water. Free entry. Pair with Mireuksa Temple Site or Wanggung-ri for a Baekje-historical day's slow afternoon.
