Why go

Gimnyeong Seongsegi Beach is a strikingly white-sand beach on Jeju's northeast coast, framed by black volcanic rocks and the brightest emerald shallows on this side of the island. The white sand is finely crushed coral, which is what gives the water its characteristic glow on a sunny day. The beach is small — only a few hundred meters across — but unusually photogenic, and far quieter than Hyeopjae or Hamdeok. Behind it lies a small fishing village with a few seafood houses, and inland is the famous Manjanggul Lava Tube, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Best on calm summer mornings. Pair with Manjanggul and the Bijarim Forest for a full northeast Jeju day.
