Gwangjuho Lake Eco Park

Gwangjuho Lake Eco Park is a public ecology-themed park along the shore of Gwangju Lake in northeastern Gwangju, set up as a nature-and-walking destination that integrates the surrounding lake-and-forest landscape with educational ecology content. The park combines a long lakeside walking-and-cycling path (about 4.5 km one-way along the eastern lakeshore), viewing decks back across the lake, themed botanical garden zones (including a wetland garden, herb garden, and forest garden), an interpretive ecology center with bilingual displays, and seasonal flower-and-landscape displays. The lake setting frames the park with broad open-water views, and the surrounding forest provides canopy shade through warmer months. Free entry. Allow 90 minutes for a focused walking loop, longer if using the cycling path. Best in spring through autumn for the most active landscape — cherry blossoms in early April, water-lily displays in June-July, and reed color in late October. Access: about 30 minutes from central Gwangju via local bus 84 or by car. Pairs naturally with the Chunggyeongchang scholarly-tradition heritage sites (Soswaewon garden and Sikyeongjeong pavilion are within 15 minutes by car), and with the broader Gwangju cultural-and-natural day-trip itineraries.
