Why go

Heojun Museum in Seoul honors Heo Jun (1539–1615) — the Joseon-era royal physician who compiled the Donguibogam (1613), the encyclopedic Korean traditional medicine reference that synthesized centuries of Korean and East Asian medical knowledge into 25 volumes and was registered as a UNESCO Memory of the World item. Heo's work fundamentally shaped Korean traditional medicine for the next four centuries. The museum combines biographical exhibits with original Donguibogam editions and reproductions, period medical instruments, and bilingual interpretation contextualizing Heo within broader East Asian medical history. Free entry. About 90 minutes. Pair with the Seoul Yangnyeongsi Herb Medicine Museum.
