Why go

Hongjecheon Artificial Waterfall is exactly what its name says — a cascade engineered into the wall of the Hongjecheon stream as it flows beneath the Naebu Expressway in northwestern Seoul. The waterfall pours 25 meters down a vertical concrete face from May to October and creates an unexpectedly grand water-and-sound moment just below a busy elevated highway. Walking and bike paths run along both sides of the stream and connect directly into the Han River trail network, making this a useful waypoint on a long ride. Free to view; the cascade pumps run roughly 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. in season. Pair with the Han River cycling loop or the nearby Nakwon Music Mart.
