Why go

Iksan Ipjeomni Ancient Tombs are a cluster of late-Baekje (5th–6th century) burial mounds on a hill in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do, excavated in the 1980s and revealing significant grave goods including gilt-bronze crowns, weapons, and pottery that connected the regional elite to the Baekje court. About 80 mounds survive across the site, with several preserved as walk-through dioramas and the rest as open earthen mounds you can walk among. A small on-site museum displays the most important excavated artifacts in air-conditioned cases with bilingual interpretation. Free entry. Allow about 75 minutes. Pair with Mireuksa Temple Site and Wanggung-ri Archaeological Site for a Baekje-themed Iksan day.
