Iksan Ssangneung (익산 쌍릉)
Iksan Ssangneung is a curated attraction in Korea — full details, hours, and access info on the official Korea Tourism page.
Why go
Iksan Ssangneung are a pair of late-Baekje (early 7th-century) royal tombs in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do, traditionally identified as the burial mounds of King Mu (the founder of Mireuksa Temple) and his queen consort. The two earthen mounds — about 30 meters apart — are among the largest royal tombs of the Baekje kingdom, and recent excavations confirmed the dating consistent with King Mu's reign. The site is set in a quiet pine grove with a clear walking path between the mounds and an interpretive panel summarizing the recent archaeology in bilingual format. Free entry. About forty minutes for the visit. Pair with Mireuksa Temple Site (King Mu's monastery) and Wanggung-ri (his palace) for a Baekje-themed Iksan day.
