Why go

Incheon Jayu Park (Freedom Park) is the oldest Western-style public park in Korea, opened in 1888 on a low hill above the historic Incheon foreign concession. It was originally called "Each Country Park" because the surrounding consulates of multiple foreign powers funded it together. Today the hilltop holds a Korean War memorial featuring a statue of General MacArthur, broad shaded paths, and a panoramic view down over Incheon Port. The combination of late-19th-century landscaping and mid-20th-century war memorial gives the park a layered, slightly bittersweet character that you don't find in newer Korean parks. Pair with the Open Port Modern Architecture Street and Chinatown for a full Incheon historic walk.
