Why go

Jangseongho Tourist Area surrounds the long, fjord-like Jangseong Reservoir in northern Jeollanam-do, with a lakeside walking deck, a cluster of restaurants, and seasonal fishing access. The signature feature is the suspended walkway that runs out over the water for several hundred meters, lit at night and especially scenic when fog hangs low in the morning. Behind the lake, Bangjangsan rises with hiking trails for those who want to combine a walk with elevation. The area is most lively during the autumn maple festival when the surrounding hills turn red. Quietest on weekday mornings. Combine with the nearby Baegyangsa Temple for a fuller day in the region.
