Jeju International Peace Center

Jeju International Peace Center is a public museum and conference complex on Jeju, designed as a venue for Asia-Pacific peace dialogue and a memorial to the 1948-1954 Jeju 4·3 Uprising — the violent suppression of leftist Jeju residents by South Korean military forces that killed an estimated 30,000 islanders, one of the most violent episodes in modern Korean history. The complex combines a substantial museum on Jeju 4·3 with bilingual interpretation that does not soften the violence, conference rooms used for international peace dialogue, and a substantial memorial garden.
