Why go

Jeongbang Falls on Jeju's south coast is the only waterfall in Asia that drops directly into the open ocean — a 23-meter cascade pouring straight off the cliff onto the basalt shoreline. Reached down a short staircase from a cliff-top park, the waterfall basin is open to walk along, and the surrounding rocks are popular for cooling-off in summer. The falls also bear an inscription said to have been left by Seo Bul, an envoy of Qin Shi Huang who in legend stopped here while searching for the elixir of immortality. Allow about an hour for the full visit. Best on sunny afternoons. Pair with Cheonjiyeon Falls and the Seogwipo Olle Market.
