Jeongeupsa Culture Park (정읍사문화공원)
Jeongeupsa Culture Park is a curated attraction in Korea — full details, hours, and access info on the official Korea Tourism page.
Why go
Jeongeupsa Culture Park is a public park in central Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do, dedicated to the 8th-century Baekje folk song "Jeongeupsa" — the oldest surviving Korean song with both lyrics and melody preserved. The song, sung by a wife waiting for her merchant husband to return safely from a long trip, has been performed continuously since the Baekje period and is considered one of the founding works of Korean vernacular literature. The park combines a small interpretive museum on the song's transmission history, a performance amphitheater where the song is performed during seasonal events, and walking gardens with stone monuments inscribed with the lyrics. About forty-five minutes. Pair with Naejangsan National Park or the Jeongeup Hyanggyo Confucian school.
