Jindo Island (진도)
Jindo Island is a curated attraction in Korea — full details, hours, and access info on the official Korea Tourism page.
Why go
Jindo is Korea's third-largest island, off the southwest coast of Jeollanam-do, and it's best known for two things: the famous "Moses miracle" sea-parting tide between Jindo and Modo Island in spring, and the small loyal Jindo dog breed native to the island. Beyond those headlines, the island is a quiet patchwork of fishing villages, rolling pastures, and a heavy memory of the 2014 Sewol ferry disaster, commemorated at Paengmok Port. A day driving the perimeter brings you to the sea-parting site at Hoedong, the Sewol memorial, and the Unrim Sanbang traditional painting studio. Spring and the annual Jindo Sea Parting Festival in March or April are the busiest times.
