Why go

Juknokwon (Bamboo Garden) is a 31-hectare bamboo forest park in Damyang, Jeollanam-do, the most famous of Korea's bamboo destinations. Eight themed walking paths wind through dense stands of moso bamboo so tall they bend the daylight green; the rustle of leaves and the cooler interior temperature make the experience as much auditory and tactile as visual. Bamboo crafts shops, traditional pavilions, and a bamboo-leaf tea cafe sit at the edges. The full loop takes about ninety minutes at a relaxed pace. Best on weekday mornings to avoid crowds. Pair with Damyang's Soswaewon Garden, Sigyeongjeong, and the gasa literature corridor for a full Damyang day.
