Korea History and Culture Park

Hanminjok History and Culture Park is a sprawling sculpture park outside Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, that lays out Korean history in chronological zones, from prehistory through the modern republic. Bronze monumental statues of historical figures — Dangun, King Sejong, Yi Sunsin, independence activists — anchor each zone, set among landscaped lawns and reflective pools with interpretive plaques on each figure's biographical and historical significance. It is unapologetically didactic but works well for school groups and travelers wanting a broad orientation in one walk. The full loop covers about two kilometers and takes ninety minutes at a reflective pace. English signage exists but is uneven, so the visit rewards a traveler with at least a light background in Korean history. Free entry. Pair with the Cheonan Independence Hall (10 minutes by car), one of Korea's most substantial modern-history museums covering the 1910-1945 colonial resistance movement, for a fuller national-history day — the two complement each other in tone and depth.
