Why go
Joryeongsan is a major mountain on the border of Chungcheongbuk-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do, rising to about 1,025 meters above sea level. The mountain is part of the broader Sobaeksan range and forms one of the central ridges of the historic Joryeong Pass — the high mountain pass that has historically been one of the major north-south transport corridors across the central Korean peninsula. Joryeongsan offers marked hiking trails through dense pine and oak cover, with summit-area viewing decks giving broad mountain-and-valley views back across the surrounding range. Spring brings new green growth, summer the strongest cooling effect from the canopy, and autumn full ridge color (mid-to-late October peak). Best for travelers seriously interested in Korean mountain hiking, paired with broader Mungyeongsaejae Pass historical itineraries.
