Jeongup Hwangtohyeon Battle Site is the designated historic site of the Hwangtohyeon Battle (May 11, 1894) — the first major military victory of the Donghak Peasant Revolution, when peasant army forces defeated government troops at this location, decisively launching the broader Donghak military campaign. The site preserves the original battlefield landscape, period weapons, and a small interpretive museum on the broader Donghak Revolution. Bilingual interpretation that does not soften the violence.
