Gwanghallu Garden is a major Joseon-era public garden complex in Namwon, Jeollabuk-do, centered on the Gwanghallu Pavilion — a traditional Korean wooden pavilion that is widely recognized as one of Korea's most beautiful Joseon-era pavilions. The garden is most famous as the setting for the classic Korean folk-tale Chunhyangjeon (The Story of Chunhyang), one of Korea's most-loved traditional love stories, with the garden grounds preserved as the setting where the story's main characters meet. The garden combines the Gwanghallu Pavilion, an artificial pond crossed by traditional stone bridges, the surrounding pavilion-and-garden landscape, and connections to the Chunhyang Folk Song-and-Dance program. The pavilion and garden are designated as Treasure of South Korea. Best as a half-day stop combined with broader Namwon-and-Jirisan-area itineraries.
