Why go
Suncheonman Wetland is Korea's most important coastal wetland and one of the world's largest reed-bed-and-tidal-flat ecosystems, designated under the Ramsar Convention as a Wetland of International Importance and forming the heart of broader Suncheonman ecological tourism in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do. The wetland spans roughly 28 km² of integrated reed beds, tidal flats, and saltwater channels, with hundreds of bird species (including major migrating populations of endangered species), tidal-flat plants, and the broader coastal ecosystem that depends on the wetland. Visitors walk an extensive boardwalk system above the reed beds with viewing decks, ride the Suncheonman Tour Boat through the channels, and visit the on-site interpretive museum. Best in autumn (mid-October through November) for golden reeds and migrating birds.
