Why go
Nojeokbong is a substantial mountain peak in Mokpo, Jeollanam-do — the substantial peak that anchored Admiral Yi Sun-sin's strategic preparation for the 1597 Myeongnyang Battle, where Yi reportedly piled rice straw on the peak to make Japanese forces believe substantial Korean rice supplies were stored there ("nojeok" means "rice-pile peak"). The peak combines a substantial summit-ridge walking trail, a substantial Yi Sun-sin memorial, and substantial views down to Mokpo Port and the surrounding Yellow Sea archipelago. About 90 minutes including the climb. Pair with Goha-do Yi Sun-sin Memorial Site.
