Why go

Sejong Hangeul Festival celebrates the 15th-century Korean alphabet — one of the world's youngest writing systems and one of the few created by a known person, King Sejong the Great. The festival fills central Sejong City with calligraphy demonstrations, hangeul-typography exhibitions, type-design markets, performances by independent designers, and family programs that let visitors experiment with the letters themselves. Because it is staged in the city named after Sejong, the event also doubles as a city tour — large public sculptures, the King Sejong statue area, and neighbouring cultural venues are folded into the festival map. For visitors interested in Korean design history, hangeul is the central anchor, and this festival is its most direct annual showcase.
