김제 벽골제 is a curated attraction in Korea — full details, hours, and access info on the official Korea Tourism page.
Why go
Gimje Byeokgolje is the historic Byeokgolje reservoir — built around 330 CE during the Three Kingdoms period and one of the oldest documented agricultural reservoirs in Korea, supporting the substantial Gimje rice-producing plain (the largest rice-producing area in pre-modern Korea). The site preserves portions of the original 4-kilometer earthen dike, a small replica of the original sluice gate, and substantial bilingual interpretation on the broader Korean agricultural-history significance. The reservoir adjoins the Byeokgolje Museum of Agricultural Culture which provides further context. Free entry. About 60 minutes for the reservoir; longer with the museum. Pair with the Byeokgolje Museum of Agricultural Culture.
