Why go

Chungju Tangeumdae Park is a public historical-and-natural park in Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do, set on the Tangeumdae cliff overlooking the confluence of the Namhangang and Dalcheon rivers. Tangeumdae has historical significance as the site where Silla scholar Ureuk reportedly composed and played the Korean traditional zither (gayageum) — Ureuk is widely considered the founder of the gayageum tradition, and the cliff still functions as a memorial-and-cultural site for that legacy. The park combines the historical Tangeumdae cliff and pavilion, walking-and-rest paths, riverside views back across the river confluence, and the broader cultural-historical context of the area (including the 1592 Battle of Tangeumdae from the Imjin War). Pairs naturally with broader Chungju cultural-and-natural itineraries that include the Chungju Lake area.
