헌마공신김만일기념관

Heonma-gongsin Kim Man-il Memorial Hall is a public memorial museum on Jeju Island dedicated to Kim Man-il (1550–1632), a Joseon-era Jeju islander who donated thousands of horses from his private herds to the central government during the Imjin War (1592–1598) and was awarded the rank of heonma-gongsin ("horse-donating meritorious subject"). Kim's contribution is one of the more unusual stories of Imjin-era civilian support — at a time when the central government's military horse supply collapsed, his donation reportedly helped sustain the Joseon cavalry effort. The museum walks visitors through Jeju's long horse-breeding tradition, Kim's biography, the Imjin War context, and the social structure of Jeju's island economy.
