Why go

Daeryong Village in Busan's Yeongdo island is a small hilltop residential neighborhood that has been transformed into an open-air mural-and-installation art village similar in spirit to the more famous Gamcheon Culture Village. The village's narrow lanes, low concrete-block houses, and steep stone stairways are decorated with about 30 large-scale mural paintings and small art installations themed around the village's working-class fishing-community heritage. About 90 minutes for a walk through the village. Best in early evening for the harbor light from the upper viewpoints. Free entry. Pair with the broader Yeongdo island attractions like Huinnyeoul Culture Village or the Sky Observatory.
