Why go

Lee Jung-seop Observatory in Busan's Yeongdo island is a small public viewpoint on the slope where painter Lee Jung-seop lived briefly during the Korean War. The deck looks south across the Korea Strait, with the rocky shoreline of Yeongdo curving away below. A small interpretive panel introduces Lee — one of Korea's most beloved 20th-century painters whose semi-abstract bull paintings became iconic — and his short, hardship-driven Yeongdo years. The view itself is the main draw: a clean wide-angle of sea and headland, with cargo ships threading the strait. Free, open day-only. Pair with the Huinnyeoul Culture Village and the Yeongdo Sky Observatory on the same coast.
