Why go
Baebangsan is a 393-meter mountain in southern Korea, with a small but distinctive peak that has become a regional hiking destination thanks to its substantial pine-and-oak forest and clear views from the summit ridge. The hike up from the lower trailhead takes about 2 hours at moderate difficulty. The summit offers sweeping views of the surrounding lowland and the South Sea coast on clear days. The trail is well-marked but rarely crowded, making this a useful off-the-mainstream-path mountain hike. Best in spring for fresh greens and autumn for foliage. About 4 hours round trip. Pair with broader regional countryside attractions.
