Sssaljogae ("Rice-and-Clam") Island is a small designated coastal-experience island in Korea, accessible from the mainland by short ferry or low-tide land bridge, with about 15 households still maintaining a working fishing-and-tidal-flat agricultural village. The island has been positioned as a coastal-experience destination, with hands-on tidal-flat clam-gathering, traditional fishing-village domestic-life experience, and basic seafood preparation programs. The pace is deliberately slow, the meals are home-cooked from the morning catch, and the surrounding coastal scenery is the main draw. Most programs need advance booking. Best in spring and autumn shoulder seasons.
