Why go
Hoedeok Metasequoia Path in Daejeon is a 1.5-kilometer tree-lined road in the Hoedeok district, with metasequoia (dawn redwood) trees planted in a single straight rank along both sides of the road. The trees, planted in the mid-20th century as part of a regional reforestation effort, have grown to over 25 meters tall, forming a striking green tunnel during summer and a brilliant copper-red tunnel in late October. The road is open to vehicle traffic but is most photogenic with foot traffic. Best in late October for the autumn-foliage tunnel. Free, accessible at any hour. About 45 minutes for a casual walk. Pair with broader Daejeon-area cultural attractions.
