Why go
Hakdong Village in Jinan, Jeollabuk-do, is a small mountain hamlet preserved as a designated cultural heritage of Joseon-era stone-and-earth garden walls and traditional houses — about 25 households still maintain the village's 19th-century rural fabric and seasonal agricultural rhythms. The walls follow the contours of the steep mountain slope, separating courtyards and persimmon orchards in a way that makes the whole village feel like a single layered terrace. The site is registered specifically for the walls and houses, with bilingual interpretation explaining 19th-century rural Korean architecture and life. A walking loop covers the village in about 30 minutes. Best in autumn when persimmons hang above the stone walls. Pair with Maisan Tapsa Temple nearby.
