Why go
Park Kyong-ni Literature Museum is a public museum dedicated to Park Kyong-ni (1926–2008), one of the most important Korean novelists of the 20th century, best known for the multi-volume epic novel "Toji" ("Land") that traced one Korean family's experience across the early 20th century. The museum is set in Hadong-area Pyeongsa-ri, the rural Gyeongnam village where much of Toji is set, and walks visitors through Park's biography, her major writing periods, original manuscripts, period photographs, and a reconstructed work-room set. The grounds include a reconstructed traditional Korean village reflecting the world of Toji, with several houses set up in the period style described in the novel. Best given a half-day, particularly for travelers seriously interested in 20th-century Korean literature, and pairs naturally with the broader Hadong-area scenic itineraries.
