Why go
Danyang Sobaeksan Royal Azalea Festival is the Danyang-side counterpart to Yeongju's Sobaeksan azalea event, celebrating the same massive royal-azalea bloom across the high ridges of Sobaeksan National Park but framed from the Danyang access points. Routes lead from Danyang's trailheads up toward the ridge meadows, and the festival adds shuttle support, food booths near trail entries, and music programs in central Danyang. Combined with Danyang's signature scenery — Eight Scenic Wonders, river cruises, Doseokwon — the festival lets travelers center a high-alpine spring weekend on a different side of Sobaeksan than the Yeongju route. For travelers planning a deeper Sobaeksan trip, the Danyang side gives a cleaner integration with riverside scenery.
