Why go

Kukje Gallery in Seoul's Samcheong-dong is one of Korea's most internationally significant commercial contemporary art galleries, founded in 1982 and representing major Korean and international contemporary artists including Lee Ufan, Park Seo-bo (the late dansaekhwa master), Yang Haegue, Anish Kapoor, and Jenny Holzer. The gallery runs about 8 to 10 exhibitions per year across its substantial Samcheong-dong main building (designed by SO-IL architects) and a smaller branch space. The Lee Ufan and Park Seo-bo dansaekhwa-related exhibitions in particular are essential reference points for serious contemporary art collectors. Free entry. Closed Sundays. About 60 minutes. Pair with PKM Gallery and other Samcheong-dong galleries.
