Metasequoia Road (메타세콰이어길)
Metasequoia Road is a curated attraction in Korea — full details, hours, and access info on the official Korea Tourism page.
Why go
Damyang Metasequoia Road is the famous straight-line tree-tunnel road in Damyang, Jeollanam-do, lined for about 8.5 kilometers along an old roadway corridor with mature dawn-redwood (metasequoia) trees that were planted in the early 1970s and have since grown into a continuous green canopy overhead. After the trees matured, a 2.1-kilometer central stretch was closed to vehicles and converted into a pedestrian-and-bicycle promenade — that closed stretch is the main destination today. The walk is most striking in the dense green of midsummer and the bright russet of late autumn, with bare-tree winter and pale spring leafing as quieter shoulder seasons. Pairs strongly with Juknokwon bamboo forest, Soswaewon traditional garden, and Damyang's signature ddeokgalbi grilled-rib lunches for a full Damyang day.
