Muju Gucheong-dong Special Tourist Zone (무주구천동관광특구)

Muju Gucheongdong Special Tourist Zone is the official tourism precinct surrounding the Gucheongdong valley in Deogyusan National Park, encompassing the valley itself, Muju Resort (Korea's most respected mid-tier ski resort), the Tageosak observatory, and the Hyangjeokbong cable car. Designated a special zone for foreign-visitor convenience, the area aggregates accommodations, restaurants, and seasonal activities — rafting and stream walks in summer, skiing and snowboarding in winter, foliage tours in autumn. The zone is essentially the eastern Jeollabuk mountain hub, and most travelers base here for two nights to reach all the components. Best in winter for skiing or autumn for foliage. Pair with the broader Deogyusan National Park trails.
