Myeong-dong

Myeong-dong is central Seoul's flagship shopping and street-food district, a dense pedestrian quarter just south of Cheonggyecheon and immediately west of City Hall. The streets are wall-to-wall K-beauty flagships (Innisfree, Etude, Nature Republic, Sulwhasoo among many), fast-fashion stores, mid-tier hotels, and the country's most concentrated street-food strip — egg bread, hotteok, tornado potato, dumplings, every pop-up specialty rotated by season. The area is heavily used by international travelers, and English support is consistently strong; Chinese, Japanese, and Southeast Asian language support is also broadly available. By day Myeong-dong is shopping-driven; by night the food carts fully take over Myeongdong Cathedral street and the surrounding blocks, and the energy peaks around 19:00-22:00. Access: Myeongdong Station (Line 4, Exit 6) or Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2, Exit 5). Best in early evening for the food cart hour. Pair with the Cheonggyecheon stream walk (5 minutes north), N Seoul Tower (Namsan Cable Car from Myeongdong), and Nanta Theatre (batch 6 verified place — one of the two dedicated NANTA venues sits inside Myeongdong itself) for a full central Seoul evening.
