Namwon Aircraft & Space Observatory (남원항공우주천문대)
Namwon Aircraft & Space Observatory is a curated attraction in Korea — full details, hours, and access info on the official Korea Tourism page.
Why go
Namwon Aircraft & Space Observatory combines a small science museum, a planetarium dome, and a working astronomical observatory on a low hill outside Namwon, Jeollabuk-do. The science museum focuses on aerospace history and basic orbital mechanics with hands-on stations aimed at children, while the planetarium runs scheduled shows in Korean (with limited English). The observatory's main 0.6-meter reflector is open to the public on clear evenings for guided viewing of planets, the moon, and seasonal deep-sky objects. Reservations are essential for evening sessions. Best in autumn and winter for clear skies. Allow 90 minutes for the day visit, longer if including a night session. Pair with Gwanghallu Pavilion and Silsangsa Temple in Namwon.
