Nongae Shrine) is a curated attraction in Korea — full details, hours, and access info on the official Korea Tourism page.
Why go
Nongae Shrine (Uiamsa) honors the Joseon-era courtesan Nongae, who in 1593 lured a Japanese general to the cliff above the Namgang River during the Second Battle of Jinju and pulled him into the water with her, killing them both. The shrine in Jangsu, her birth county, is a small wooden hall in a quiet hillside garden, with portraits, an offering altar, and bilingual interpretive panels explaining her act of resistance. Compared to the famous "Uiam" cliff in Jinjuseong Fortress, this site offers a more contemplative remembrance away from the crowds. Allow about forty minutes. Pair with Nongae's birthplace nearby and the Jangsu mountain drives.
