Oedaldo Island (외달도)
Oedaldo Island is a curated attraction in Korea — full details, hours, and access info on the official Korea Tourism page.
Why go
Oedaldo Island is a small inhabited island off Mokpo's southern coast in Jeollanam-do, reached in about thirty minutes by passenger ferry. The single fishing village of around fifty residents, a short coastal walking trail, two small pebble beaches, and a couple of family-run guesthouses make up almost the entire visitor experience. The island has a deliberately preserved mid-20th-century atmosphere — gas lamps, low concrete-block walls, no major resorts — that reads as time-paused for visitors used to mainland-Korea pace. Best for an overnight rather than a day trip. Ferry timing and weather can disrupt plans, so check the day before. Pair with central Mokpo's harbor district before departure.
